As part of the acclaimed Follow Me Up To Carlow Concert Series, Red Hurley will appear live with Johnny Carroll and special guests on Friday April 7th at 8 p.m., a fantastic evening of music and stories not to be missed!
Red Hurley is regarded as one of the best singers to have emerged from Ireland and his career has spanned several decades with a string of number one hits, including ‘Sometimes Kiss Me Goodbye” and “I never said Goodbye’. The hits continue with ‘Love Is All’ (his biggest Reed/Mason hit and one of the biggest selling singles of the 1970s in Ireland), ‘Broken Promises’, ‘Tennessee Special’, ‘You’re my Day You’re my Night’ and many others, all huge chart hits in Ireland. Red represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1976 with a song called `When”. In 2010 he celebrated 40 years in show business with a sell-out tour of Ireland with his special guest, legendary US Singer Rita Coolidge. Red Hurley continues to tour Ireland, UK and USA. A formidable live performer, Red is an artist not to be missed!
If that wasn’t enough on the same bill is the legendary Johnny Carroll, The Man With The Golden Trumpet to his fans. Irish trumpeter Johnny Carroll joined the local brass band aged 12 and subsequently joined the Pioneer Aces, an Irish showband, and began his professional career aged 13. Johnny has devoted decades to his craft, becoming widely recognised as one of Ireland’s best-known musicians.
Johnny’s repertoire is diverse – the big-band sounds, rock ’n’ roll, international and traditional. He has appeared on “The Late Late Show”, “Live at 3”, “Up for the Match” and “Sunday Night at the Olympia”. Johnny is the only Irish instrumentalist to have topped the pop charts with a trumpet tune, his interpretation of the classic “Oh Mein Papa” and his albums have earned him six Gold Discs for sales in lreland. Johnny Carroll delivers a professional performance every time.
