Tourism Visitor Care QQI Level 4 Accredited / Free Course

Carlow Tourism, in association with Kilkenny and Carlow ETB and the Local Enterprise Office, are running a Tourism Visitor Care course and Tourism Information and Administration course, as part of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. These are free courses, but booking is essential.

This course is open to tourism providers and community participants or those who reside or run a business in County Carlow.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Overview of the tourism industry and its role in Ireland’s social and economic life
  2. Culture and heritage as part of the overall tourism offering including an overview of the tourism brand for the region Ireland’s Ancient East
  3. Customer Care and the role of the Irish welcome for visitors to Ireland
  4. Overview of local amenities
  5. Bus tours of the county taking in key visitor attractions (see below for programme) – 26th April and 10th May 2018 (full day tours)

11.30 a.m. Departure Myshall Village for Huntington Castle, Clonegal
11.45 a.m. – 12.30 p.m. Tour of Huntington Castle and Gardens in the company of Alex and Clare Durdin-Robertson, owners
12.30 p.m. – 1.45 p.m. Travel via Mount Leinster and Kilbrannish Forest Recreation Area to the Borris Viaduct and onwards to the 7th century ecclesiastical site of St. Mullins
1.45 p.m. – 2.45 p.m. Lunch at the Mullicháin Cafe, The Quay, St. Mullins
2.45 p.m. – 4.15 p.m. Tour of St. Mullins Heritage Centre and St. Mullins Village including a short walk to St. Mullins Lock
