Discover history, nature, art and farm-to-fork dining on a day out to Shankill Castle. Shankill Castle was first built as a Butler tower house beside the ruins of an old church. In 1708, it was rebuilt as a residence and set in a formal landscape. Today it is home to Irish artist Elizabeth Cope and her family.
Explore the acres of gardens and woodlands, including a Victorian walled kitchen garden, sweeping topiary lawns and a secret fairy woods for the whole family. Take a tour of the 300-year-old castle, filled with an eclectic mix of antiques and contemporary art.
Relax and refuel in the heritage stableyard, where you can enjoy lunch, coffee and refreshments from the Currabinny food truck, and stock up on organic produce and fine foods at the Shankill Castle Farm Shop, which stocks organic beef, fruit and veg, apple juice and preserves from the farm, as well as home baked goodies.
