Hallowe’en is long over, and the Christmas lights are being turned on all over the country, so we reckon it’s safe to start talking about our fabulous plans for the holiday season!
Here in Carlow, we are kicking Christmas off in style on December 3rd, when our very own Duckett’s Grove—just six kilometres outside Carlow town near junction 4 on the M9—hosts the annual Christmas Fair. 2017 is promising to offer a fair to remember, with seasonal foods to sample, traditional crafts, and lovely music to get even the most entrenched Scrooge in the holiday mood.
Children of all ages will find something to entertain them, from our very special visitor from the North Pole (OK, you guessed it; it’s Santa Claus), who’s got a little gift for each and every one, our Rodeo Reindeer, face-painting, and creative workshops, where kids can design and make their very own Christmas decorations. For grown-ups and children alike, there are demonstrations of weaving, blacksmithing, woodturning, and falconry. Woolly Farm has created a wonderful living Nativity, with real live animals, and actors playing the roles of the lead characters in the greatest story ever told!
What could be better than doing your Christmas shopping in such evocative, magical surroundings, with entertainments to keep the kids happy, and the option of putting your feet up and enjoying a warm cup of tea and a tasty seasonal snack from one of our many food stalls and cafes?
If anything is going to dispatch your inner Scrooge and turn you on to the idea of enjoying Christmas this year, the Carlow Christmas Fair is it! Mark December 3rd in your calendar, and get ready for a whole lot of Christmas cheer.
Ho ho ho! We can’t wait to see you there!
