Discover Nature’s Genius at Rathwood! STEM Workshop for Kids in Carlow

Join us on 02 August at Rathwood for our exciting Biomimicry & Biodiversity Workshop, where science meets the wild wonders of nature! This interactive experience invites children aged 5-12 to explore how the incredible designs of animals and plants inspire modern inventions and why biodiversity is the foundation of life on Earth.

In the Biomimicry segment, children will dive into hands-on experiments that show how engineers copy nature to solve human challenges. From gecko-inspired climbing tech and butterfly-wing solar panels to sharkskin swimsuits and owl-wing-inspired silent flight, kids will learn how nature holds the key to innovative design. They’ll get to play, build, and test fun science models that bring these ideas to life!

Next, we’ll become biodiversity detectives! Children will venture outdoors for a guided Biodiversity Hunt, identifying plants, insects, and other creatures. Through games like Biodiversity Jenga, they’ll understand how ecosystems work and what happens when species disappear. They’ll learn why every species matters and how we can help protect our planet’s natural balance.

With lab coats and goggles provided, your budding scientists will feel like real Junior Einsteins as they explore, discover, and innovate.
