Step into the heart of Daisy Cottage Farm for an immersive, hands-on food experience led by pastry chef Lorraine Aspill. Arán, Im agus Subh, meaning Bread, Butter & Jam, celebrates the flavours, stories, and heritage of Irish farmhouse baking.
Lorraine welcomes you into her cosy kitchen, where a pot of homemade jam bubbles gently on the stove. Your experience begins with an interactive butter-making session, giving every guest the chance to churn their own butter while Lorraine shares the fascinating history of its importance in Irish food, farming, and folklore.
Next, the group moves into a live baking demonstration, chosen by the guests from our menu of traditional recipes. The buttermilk made during the butter-churning is used in the bake, a delicious nod to the self-sufficient traditions of Irish homesteads.
As your creations bake, you’ll head outside for a relaxed walk around the farm to meet our friendly animals – including alpacas, pigs, ponies, ducks, turkeys and pygmy goats. It’s a perfect time for pictures, fresh air, and a glimpse into farm life in the Wicklow Foothills.
You’ll return to our veranda to enjoy the warm baked goods straight from the oven, generously topped with fresh butter and homemade jam – a simple, comforting Irish treat that never disappoints.
Guests may choose one of the following on the day:
- Fresh Scone Making
- Traditional Irish Brown Bread
- Seasonal Additions to White Soda Cakes
- Teabrack
- Pesto Making
- Chutney Making
- Jam Making
