Carlow County Council warmly invites you to Lightfest 2025 – Féile Lonrach, Festival of Glow!
Experience the magic as Carlow Town transforms into a dazzling winter wonderland, filled with festive lights, joyful music, delicious treats, and the true spirit of Christmas.
This is more than an event — it’s a celebration for all ages. Enjoy a new family funfair, festive market stalls, live performances, and the magical arrival of Santa Claus — followed by a spectacular fireworks finale to light up the night sky!
Santa’s Arrival & Fireworks Spectacular
At 6:10 p.m., Santa Claus makes his grand entrance, joined by Cllr. Paul Doogue , Mayor for the Christmas Lights Switch-On — followed by a breathtaking fireworks display that will illuminate the Carlow sky!
Funfair & Festive Market
Explore the family funfair, shop from local festive stalls, enjoy face painting, and treat yourself to seasonal food and drink.

Tickets are FREE, but must be booked in advance through Eventbrite.
Book early to secure your place – spaces are limited!
If you can no longer attend, please cancel your tickets through Eventbrite so others can join the celebration.
Parking, Access & Road Closures
Road closures will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. on Barrow Track, Cox’s Lane, Centaur Street, Haymarket, and Church Street.
Carlow Town Park will close at 2:00 p.m.
Parking is available outside the event area – please follow signage and steward directions.
Event Entrance: Access via the Barrow Track beside Carlow Rowing Club.

Catch Santa and his big red bus collecting letters before Lightfest begins:

6:10 p.m. – Carlow Town Hall Plaza (during Lightfest)
