Workshop Description
Vicious Volcanoes & Crusty Old Earth at Rathwood! STEM Adventure for Kids in Carlow
Get ready to erupt with excitement! Join us on 06 September at Rathwood for our thrilling Vicious Volcanoes & Crusty Old Earth Workshop—an unforgettable hands-on science experience for budding geologists and Earth explorers aged 5-12.
In this exciting double-feature workshop, children will investigate the dynamic forces shaping our planet! First, they’ll explore the Earth’s layers, discover tectonic plates, and simulate plate movements using tasty treats and fun materials. From cupcake core sampling to floating syrup plates and fold-a-mountain towel experiments, they’ll get messy and think like real geologists.
Then it’s time to turn up the heat with our explosive volcano segment! Children will dive into the science behind volcanic eruptions—what causes them, how magma becomes lava, and the different types of volcanoes around the world. With erupting volcano experiments and creative model building, they’ll experience first-hand how Earth’s inner forces shape the surface.
Each child receives a lab coat and goggles to wear throughout the session, adding to the immersive Junior Einsteins experience.
Parents are welcome to unwind in Rathwood’s café, explore boutique shops, or enjoy a scenic stroll while the kids dig into Earth science fun.
Spaces are limited—book now and let the earth-shaking adventure begin!
