ST PATRICK’S DAY FESTIVAL 2023
A Bumper Féile Lá Feile Pádraig 2023 is planned for Carlow Town with music, Irish dancers, performers, street entertainers, bouncy castle and carousels, all part of the St Patricks day Festival 2023
The St Patricks Day Festival is a combination of a St Patricks Day Parade and Family Fun Festival. A variety of clubs groups societies, bands, defence force and charity associations are taking part in the St Patrick’s parade. The St Patricks Day Parade Grand Marshal is Professor Veronica Campbell, SETU and the parade will assemble at Perry’s old car park at 2pm and the parade will commence form there at 3pm. The parade will travel along Kennedy Avenue past the viewing stage at the Liberty Tree and proceed along Barrack Street and travel down Tullow Street and finally disperse along Castle Street. To celebrate inclusion, this year there is a section of the parade route along Barrack Street set aside for sensory sensitivities and people are asked to lower their volume and no flashing lights allowed.
The St Patricks Day Festival fun begins at 1.30pm with Live music on the viewing stand at the Liberty Tree, in Din Ri car park, with local bands, Irish Dancers and a Ukulele Band entertaining all. At 4pm Róisín Dubh will play a selection of their music. Throughout the afternoon there will be a selection of street artists, bouncing castle, face painting, entertainment for all. This year the Festival will incorporate the New Exchange at potato market where the local traders from the Carlow Farmers Market with all their fresh produce, food stalls and lots of refreshments available. There are loads of activities for children and busking around town throughout the afternoon for all to enjoy.
