6th June – Cruinniú na nÓg
2 – 6 year olds from 11am – 12:30pm, 2 – 12 year olds 1:30pm – 4pm
Carlow artist Siobhán Jordan will lead a playful, collaborative workshop building a large tipi style willow hut and then weaving the walls of the hut on the grounds of Carlow College and VISUAL. Siobhán will teach young children how to weave the walls of the hut with flowers, leaves, yarn and paper, creating a beautiful hiding place for small children to play. This morning part of the workshop is for children aged 2 – 6 years with their adult.
Leading up to this tipi will be a willow walkway with woven sides, these “willow walls” will be open for the public to drop in to learn the process of weaving and to weave their own portion of the piece and to interact with and play in the bigger tipi.
All materials will be biodegradable and this playful structure will remain over the weekend for children and families to drop-in and interact with. The following week, all materials can be composted, making this a beautiful, large-scale and completely circular project.
