History
Palatine House Bar & Lounge lies between the attractive row of granite cottages, built in four sets of pairs to the south of the village. Built in 1866, and the row of cottages located at the northern end of the village, most likely built to accommodate the Palatines in the early 18th century, settled in Ireland from the province of Palatine in Germany . Palatine House still operates as a public house. The pike engraved over the door symbolises the Rebellion of the United Irishmen.
