🌟A lot of fun festive events are happening this weekend in Carlow!🌟

There’s an exciting new event coming to Carlow Town this Christmas at Carlow College, St. Patrick's so make sure to pencil December 3rd and 4th in the diary. A huge selection of craft, art, food and entertainment stalls will have something for everyone. Kids can take part in Mr and Mrs Claus’ Workshop, or visit Santa's Grotto and get a small present.

🎅Tickets to meet Santa are still available here: tinyurl.com/4d3kmn6a

Thanks to Karyn O'Donoghue for raising this initially last night, Saturday. As a trader there she commented on lower than expected attendances on the 1st day & didn't go back for day two. I've reached out to KCLR96FM & Carlow Nationalist on this this evening in polite emails & will try reach Xmasincarlow@gmail too to discuss. Thankfully I have the screenshots since they removed their page this evening; that in itself is quite telling. €5 in for a parentless person like me to wander around, browse, and hopefully buy? Bizarre. Unusual. And a deterrent; remember the traders weren't there for free; they ALL had to pay for their pitches; have to make that back before breaking even and then the organisers Xmas in Carlow put a 5 Euro charge in front of potential customers which is 5 Euro less they'll then spend at the market. Xmas in Carlow did reply to my PM on Friday evening confirming there was the entrance fee (I've shared this to local media & Karen publicly too) of 5 Euro. There was NO MENTION of it being for Alone or any other charity on the signage (again I've the screenshots from Xmas in Carlow Facebook & Eventbrite listings; both are gone now too). There was a vague post from Saturday the 26th of November, again I have the sceenshot thankfully, where they were mentioned but not specific to them being beneficiaries of the 5 Euro; none at all so it's disenginious (sp?) for them to say, insinuate, at this, belated remove, to use hindsight to claim this is where the 5 Euro was going. In the post from November they didn't even tag Alone; the post was amateurish; some traders were tagged, which is important as it brings possible customers to their Facebook pages, and others weren't. Also, regarding any potential charity partners, they also had MLHR & Eist mentioned; bit bizarre to have had both these noble charities onsite on both days (presumably.........were they?) and then also mention, but again not tag, Alone & I know they did tag MLHR but NOT Eist in the post. I'm beginning to wonder were all 3 charities even aware of their names being used? As for anyone who paid in yesterday or up to some, any point today? Yeah, Xmasincarlow@gmail.com to process refunds. Cos, while it's just 5 Euro to you, one person, for arguments sake there was 500 paid in? That's 2,500. A lot of money cumulatively. Now remember whenever they stopped taking payments via Eventbrite which people could book as they were at the gate on their phones or anytime since it launched & via a white Tap & Go Sum Up Machine which was provided on Saturday (I saw it with my own eyes); after this time then people could, as it should have been from the get-go, stroll on in without paying. Anyone up to this point should be refunded; cos, if it was for Alone, or any other charity, why stop taking payments.....? If Xmas in Carlow come out with mea-culpa & say they'll donate it to Alone (or MLHR or Eist) tell them to do one, that YOU, the person who paid will decide where your money goes. Because that would be a cop out by Xmas in Carlow. Whatever about attendees, or potential attendees, the traders, who paid for their pitches for 1 or both days were sold an absolute pup & Xmas in Carlow may well need to consider a refund in part for them too. As I was told, on Friday night, by the organisers, before they removed their Facebook this evening, the adult pays the 5 Euro; kids only went free if they weren't engaging in either Santa experience for which they'd pay €8 or €15. By all accounts, from parents who attended there today into what looked, at a distance, like an army tent you'd see on the Curragh or in Gormanstown, the kids were pretty much an afterthought & engagements with them were rushed & it was all about ticking boxes rather than creating a Santa experience. Disappointing. PM me for the poster which mentions Alone but nothing about it being the beneficiary of the 5 Euro.........you will see some names mentioned were tagged, others weren't, so won't've even been aware they were being named (that's why tagging on social media is important). Someone, be it Carlow Tourism for promoting an event & not making sure the checks & balances were in order, or Carlow College for same reason or LEO Carlow or anyone else involved in organising it, or promoting it, and who didn't do their checks regarding the entrance fees etc. needs to be answerable for this shambles of an event. No buck passing needed please. Ends..........for now.
