Join Mountain Adventures for a rewarding day exploring the beautiful forests and mountain landscapes of the Blackstairs Mountains. This B-grade walk offers a wonderful combination of woodland trails, open mountain scenery and panoramic views, making it an ideal choice for walkers seeking a moderately challenging day on the hills.

The route begins in Kilbrannish Forest North, following a network of forest tracks through extensive woodland that showcases the rich colours of autumn. As the walk progresses, participants will pass Deacon’s Wind Farm, where impressive turbines stand high on the mountain slopes, providing a striking feature in the landscape and superb vantage points over the surrounding countryside.

From here, the walk continues through Kilbrannish Forest North towards the scenic Corrabut Gap, a natural mountain pass that opens up spectacular views across the Blackstairs range and beyond. The route then enters Kilbrannish Forest South, travelling through peaceful woodland environments, forest roads, and open clearings, offering plenty of opportunities to appreciate the area’s diverse habitats and natural beauty.

The walk concludes at the iconic Nine Stones, one of the best-known landmarks in the Blackstairs Mountains and a fitting end to an enjoyable day’s hiking.

• Bus transport to/from the start/finish of your walk in Ballymurphy
• Soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee after your walk in Ballymurphy Hall, Ballymurphy, Borris, Co. Carlow
