We offer year-long artist-in-residency and associate programmes to artists working across a variety of performing arts practices. Our artist support and development programmes provide artists with the opportunity to develop a year-long work programme in partnership with VISUAL and other partners.
We believe that the arts have a vital role to play – culturally, socially and economically. We have a year-round learning programme that welcomes different age groups and diverse audiences.
Sustainable Futures
We developed the Sustainable Futures programme to raise awareness of environmental and sustainable development issues, guided by the question of what biodiversity and sustainable practices mean for our lives.
We are committed to arts research. Currently, the curatorial project Our Thriving Tribe (OTT) aims to expand upon the current discourse on entrepreneurship within the arts in Ireland.

Schools are invited to visit VISUAL, take in the incredible architecture and artworks and participate in a workshop making sculpture and drawing.

What makes an object itself? Where does it begin and where does it end? Is the shadow part of the object? If the object was made from a different material, would that change the object? Come and find out in this free space for all ages to play, explore and engage in response to the exhibitions.

Anne Hardy’s first exhibition in Ireland comprises a series of figurative sculptures that reflect various states of being; physical, emotional, metaphorical. Set within an installation of earth and light that suggests an archaeological site or a place of ritual, Interloper engages with the architecture, weather and landscape within and outside the gallery.

Join Connie Byrne as she returns for yoga classes on Saturday mornings at VISUAL from 10am to 11am.This class will take place in the Link Gallery, making use of the beautiful morning light. Vinyasa Flow is a lovely way to flow with your breath. Find space in your mind and body and support your nervous system.
You will feel balanced and calm as we complete our class.
The National Cairn Community Games will make a grand return to Carlow on September 5th and 6th.
