Seachtain na Gaeilge is being marked in Carlow this March with a bumper festival programme to enjoy. A feast of Irish and bilingual events will run over two weeks and welcomes participation from all, regardless of one’s command of the language. The festival will take place at various locations throughout Carlow Town.
Among the highlights is Altamont Gardens, one of Ireland’s most treasured garden destinations. Set on a 40-acre estate on the banks of the River Slaney near Tullow.
On the grounds of Altamont Gardens, Altamont Plant Sales offers visitors the opportunity to explore and purchase a wide selection of daffodil varieties alongside other seasonal plants.
At Arboretum Home and Garden Heaven in Leighlinbridge, spring brings vibrant displays of daffodils throughout its inspirational gardens.
At Delta Sensory Gardens in Carlow Town, visitors can experience a unique celebration of daffodils from Saturday 7th to Sunday 5th April.
Huntington Castle and Gardens offers the magical combination of daffodils and newborn lambs during March and early April.
St Patrick’s Day Parades – throughout County Carlow.
Ireland's national feast day is celebrated throughout County Carlow with a series of parades in honour of St Patrick, the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Parades take place in Carlow Town, Graiguecullen, Bagenalstown, Ballon, Graiguenamanagh, Tullow, Borris and Killeshin.
