Gaelic Escargot is the first snail farm in Ireland and the only Research & Development Centre for the production of free-range escargots. They are located in Garryhill, Co. Carlow and they have been researching and farming snails since 2013, with a particular emphasis on free-range and sustainable methods. Today they distribute Irish escargots to the food service sector on an international scale. Gaelic Escargot also provide full mentoring for existing snail farmers as well as to those aspiring, offering snail farming courses, breeding stock and on-going support. To date they helped to create more than 20 new snail farms across the country.
Our Farm
We specialize in rearing Helix Aspersa Muller snails and our farm is located in the beautiful village of Garryhill, Co. Carlow, Ireland.
We have been researching snail production methods for the last seven years and we are the only Research and Development Center for this type of farming in Ireland.
Snail Farming Courses
We provide snail farming courses for people interested to learn how to set up and run their own snail farms.
Our course has been developed to provide you with an extensive knowledge and understanding of the snail farming sector, breeding techniques, existing markets & opportunities, the infrastructure needed, set up cost, and pitfalls.
At Gaelic Escargot the health and safety of our customers and community is our first priority. To reduce the risk of infection we have taken the step to move our Snail Farming Courses online. The theory part is run through ZOOM online video conferencing. This is the same format as you would get in our face-to-face classroom course. The full farm tour can be then arranged when restrictions are lifted.
